Ultratest Unifies Genesis Platform with Launch of Genesis Erase and Genesis Hybrid

Ultratest Solutions, a leading provider of data erasure and drive processing technology, today announces the launch of Genesis Erase and Genesis Hybrid. The repair-focused configuration is now branded as Genesis Restore.

Ultratest positions Genesis as its core drive processing platform. The platform includes Genesis Restore, Genesis Erase, and Genesis Hybrid. Each configuration supports a specific operational requirement and uses the same hardware architecture, software platform, and compliance framework.

Genesis Restore – drive testing, repair, and refurbishment

Genesis Restore is the refurbishment-focused configuration of the Genesis platform. It identifies, repairs, and prepares suitable HDDs and SSDs for reuse.
Key differentiators include:

  • Automated drive testing, repair, and grading to maximise recovery rates
  • Ultraports enabling fast, front-loading connection of drives without caddies or carriers
  • Genesis supports port extenders. Operators can connect drives in their existing caddies, reduce handling time, and avoid full decommissioning from server hardware.
  • Integrated reporting and traceability to support resale and audit requirements

Genesis Restore enables organisations to extract maximum value from incoming drives. It maintains consistency and control across refurbishment workflows.

Genesis Erase – secure, compliant data erasure at scale

This dedicated erasure configuration supports high-volume data sanitisation. It delivers fast, standards-compliant erasure without integrated physical repair.

Bulk erasure throughput comes from the use of high-capacity Ultrabays in a single rack. This approach supports high-throughput bulk erasure workflows.

Capabilities include:

  • High-volume erasure using Ultrabays for efficient bulk processing of drives
  • The system performs secure erasure compliant with NIST SP 800-88 R1 and R2.
  • Automated reporting and certificate generation
  • Centralised control and auditability through the Genesis platform
  • No per-wipe or per-device fees, supporting predictable operating costs

Genesis Erase provides a focused, industrial-scale solution for environments where throughput and compliance are the primary requirements.

Genesis Hybrid – mixed restore and erase in a single rack

It combines restore and erase sleds within a single Genesis rack. This allows refurbishment and erasure workloads to run side by side.

This approach allows dynamic allocation between reuse and erase-only workflows. The configuration adapts as drive quality and operational requirements change.

Supporting customer clarity and adoption

“Customers need solutions that match how they operate day to day,” said Ben Ford, Product Sales Specialist at Ultratest Solutions. “A clear Genesis product structure simplifies deployment today. The platform supports future change.”

Alongside these updates, Ultratest has refreshed its website to better support customers and partners. It provides clearer product information and expanded resources on compliance and secure data handling workflows.

All Genesis configurations are available immediately.
